Denis Mukwege – Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2018 – is a Congolese doctor who, at the risk of his own life, has become the savior and human rights advocate for thousands of women who have been raped and mutilated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo – a country where rape has become a weapon of war. In Panzi, at his hospital, Guy-Bernard Cadière, a Belgian surgeon and pioneer in laparoscopy, works alongside him to help these women regain hope and to ensure that the world does not turn a blind eye to this barbarity.
