Muganga Touches Hearts

Marie-Hélène Roux’s film continues to win over audiences

We are delighted to see Muganga surpass 200,000 admissions in France. This is a remarkable achievement for a film that tackles such a profound and sensitive subject with both precision and restraint.
Audiences have been deeply moved by the figure of Dr. Denis Mukwege, whose heroic fight for the women of Congo continues to inspire admiration. Alongside Belgian surgeon Guy Cadière, Dr. Mukwege praised the film’s authenticity and congratulated the director for her powerful work.

The result of nearly ten years of perseverance, Muganga had already been honored before its release, winning three Valois awards at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival (August 2025): the Valois du Public, the Valois des Étudiants Francophones, and the Valois de l’Acteur for Isaach de Bankolé.
